Kings & Domans

On Sunday we finally got together with the Kings ~ Nick, Megan & Chelsea ~ and the Domans ~ Pete, Tonya, Lucas & Jacob ~!!
Megan, Tonya and I were all pregnant at the same time and this was the first time that we have all been able to get together. By together, I mean in the same house....it was close to impossible to get a picture of all 4 kids together.
This was the best I came up with

I think Lucas had enough of the picture time...

Jacob bolted next
There there was one......pretty little girl! Nakiah playing with Nick Jake on top of the world...or at least the tball set Lucas and McQueen Tonya and Lucas Nakiah had quite the time walking in the grass on a slope, she spent most of the time trying to stand up Play Time Future Fire Woman A rare moment of stability I love this picture of Lucas
I think they're planning something I think Nakiah needs to learn a bit about sharing Sorry Lucas! Jake, Nakiah and Chelsea
(Taking advantage of the fact they are all strapped in) Another attempt at a group shot
Playing music for Megan Somehow I don't think she has the right genes for the WNBA :-) Playing with Lucas Nakiah LOVED the boys' bucket of animals Thanks Pete and Tonya for hosting such a great dinner. We had a great time. Nakiah had a blast with the kids and we're all looking forward to next time.

My Girl

So Nakiah is closing in on 13 months and it still seems so crazy to me that I have a toddler. She's growing so much and changing every day. At her 12 month check up she was 30 inches tall and weighed in at 27lbs 8oz. (90+ percentile for both)
Her vocabulary is growing faster than I can keep track of, she's learning what noises animals make and she's picking up on sign language quicker than I expected.
She is proving to have a bit of a temper, but its easily overlooked when she turns on the charm!
Her shirt says
"I only cry when ugly people hold me"
Compliments of Aunt Misty

Sweet Angel or Little Devil?

Nakiah is such a sweet baby girl.
So sweet and innocent..... When she gets caught doing something she shouldn't be doing, she puts her hands up and says "oh, no" like she just happened upon the scene and ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time. I think I'm going to have my hands full one day. :-)

Rough Day

Nakiah was so worn out after a days worth of playing that she was limp baby on the floor. I was changing her diaper and putting her jammies on and when I got up to put things away, she just laid there.

I grabbed the camera, started clicking away and she just laid there.I told her I was going to the kitchen and she laid there.

Future Mechanic?

Since Nakiah first started playing with toys, everything is examined. Every toy gets the once over before they become objects of play. If she finds something interesting, like wheels or holes or lids, etc it gets a thorough investigation before it is accepted as simply a toy.
Auntie Stinky got Nakiah this train for her birthday, and it has proven to be no exception to this rule! For the first week, at least, Nakiah would open and close the lid/seat, push the buttons, flip it over to spin the wheels and anything else she could find to figure out. It wasn't until recently that she actually got on to ride the train. Once she did, she loved it of course, but she still takes the occasional pit stop to ensure all mechanisms are working properly.
Is this my fair warning that I have a "why" child on my hands?
She's going to ask why about everything.

Daddy's Hat

Nakiah found one of daddy's old hats
Every time she sees it, it has to go right on her head.
She tries so hard to do it herself
Once it gets on, she has to make sure you're looking at her so you can tell her how cute she is I think she knows how cute she is

Ketchup

Corey and I aren't very big ketchup eaters.
We're the family that keeps the obligatory bottle of Heinz around, even when we're cleaning out the fridge, locate the ketchup and can't remember the last time we opened it.
We saw our friend Chelsea loving the ketchup on her blog and thought we'd see if Nakiah would like it.........turns out she digs the red stuff!
~Hold on mom, let me taste it~
~Okay, seems to be alright~ ~I need another dip!~ ~She's really loading this bite~ I stopped taking pictures, but after this she went straight to finger dipping and couldn't get enough. She kept telling me "uummmm", which is Nakiah for Yum!
