Family Visit

My Aunt Connie was here from Alaska for a few days so we brought Nakiah over to Auntie Freda's house for a visit. Nakiah was much more interested in playing with Sophia's toys.

Kickin' Back

Nakiah loves her little lawn chair. She drags it out to the living room to watch tv and she'll even crawl up in it and put her books on her lap when she wants to read a story. It has also become her snack chair.

Did you know....

-My daughter's favorite toy is a cardboard box
-She would much rather suck on a lemon than candy
-She has a weird fascination with my elbow and must rub it any chance she gets, especially during diaper changes
-Her favorite part of bath time is after the water has drained out. She stretches out on her tummy and pushes herself back and forth...she also giggles at herself during this time
-When she gets excited, she stomps in place
-She has two chores; the first is putting her bath toys in her frog pod when she is ready to get out of the tub, the other is feeding the cat....which she wants to do ALL THE TIME, whether the cat has food already or not
-My weird daughter loves to take medicine, any kind. She will bring me the container and say "num", when I don't give it to her, she'll sign "please"
-Her favorite place in the house, is behind the recliner. She lays her head on our arms and when we tell her to get out from behind there, she says "hi-eeee" real sweet and leans in for a kiss....but doesn't move
-Nakiah doesn't like anybody else to hug her mommy. When other people hug each other she laughs, but when someone hugs me, she separates us and wants up in my arms to hug too
-One of the only things she does on command is marching. She takes a step with one leg and flings the other straight out in front of her, she's the best marcher I know
-She LOVES commercials way more than cartoons. She has a few favorites and when those come on, she signs "more" to me. I have to keep rewinding and playing the commercial until she forgets to ask for more, or moves on to something else -She HATES the vacuum cleaner and will cry when she sees it out, even before its turned on -So far, Nakiah really loves her books. She signs "story" to us all the time. Up to this point her favorite book is the phone book. She loves to fan the pages, it keeps her occupied longer than any of her toys
-Nakiah talks in her sleep
-When she thinks something is funny, she puts her hands over her mouth and laughs. If you laugh at her, she does this even more
-Before she ever "cooed" Nakiah would growl, she still growls when she is concentrating on something

-Again, my daughter's favorite toy is a cardboard box!!

AaaaCHOOOOO!

Nakiah is amazing me every day. She is picking up on things so quickly. She's trying to say new words all the time and she loves to copy things she sees other people do. Her sense of humor is really starting to show and if she thinks you are laughing at her, she puts her hands over her mouth, scrunches up her face and laughs. She has a weird fascination with sneezing and pretends to sneeze at any random moment. If she hears a sneeze, either in person or on tv, it must be copied. Visitors create in her, a second wind, or a third, or a fourth and a great desire to show off. She is signing more and more every day and is now up to 17 signs that she uses regularly. She definitely has a temper and can get frustrated easily when she's tired, but she is a very sweet baby and very much a cuddler. Hugs and kisses fill our days. Nakiah has a big heart and she already knows when to turn on the charm.
Her first pony tail
This is apparently Nakiah's "spot"
If you give her a cracker, she'll take it to the steps to eat it

Super Cool

A few weeks ago, I came home from work and this is what I found....
Meega's girl

Nakiah-in-the-Box

Like all children, Nakiah loves to play in cardboard boxes, of any size
This particular one is an empty box of diapers
She just sat in it and watched some cartoons This is her hiding
Wait for it.....
Pop goes Nakiah!
We've decided we're going to stop spending money on toys and books....cardboard is much cheaper

Christmas Carol Boy or Elmer Fud?

Nakiah got a nice winter coat for her birthday from Gramma & Grampa Pippen. Since its been getting pretty cold, we decided to test it out
She reminds me of the little boy on A Christmas Carol (Red Rider BB Gun) Mommy even got her an Elmer Fud had to go with her new coat and boots

Meega doesn't care for the hat much, but it sure makes me smile!!

Picasso Jr.

Meega brought Nakiah some crayons a while back and we finally got them out to see how Nakiah would like coloring
It turns out she LOVES to color and for the most part, the crayons stay on the paper and out of her mouth....its a good thing they come off the wood floors :) Its like there was a tiny little artist inside my baby all along, just waiting to be freed
She's like an artistic genius.... :)
Its now hanging on the fridge

Trick-or-Treating

Nakiah had a very busy Halloween. I left work early so Meega and I could take my little dinosaur trick or treating. Our first stop was to see the girls in my office.
Nakiah getting her first treat from Tara
She's such a good girl...she chose the toy over the candy....
at least for a minute :)
Next stop was Auntie Fave's shop, where she was totally spoiled! Auntie Fave let Nakiah wear part of her costume Can you see the excitement on Nakiah's face
I don't think the boa was her favorite
Next stop...Howmac to see Grammy and Auntie Misty
She had fun showing off for everyone Grammy even dressed up for Halloween too
After Howmac came GG & Papa's House, Daddy's work, a nap, a snack and then it was off to the parade.
Miss Independent did NOT want Mommy holding her hand....
We met up with Leah and James and Anna, a.k.a Raphael the Ninja Turtle and the sweetest skunk ever!
Nakiah's excitement and awe helped land us at the very end of the parade. :) We kept telling her to hurry and she would start running and say "un, un, un, un, un" which is of course run in Nakiah
She even had a chance to practice her parade wave
Our final stop was back to GG & Papa's house.
Casey and Tammy ended up stopping by with Bailey, so the girls had a chance to play together for the first time in a very long time
It took them a little while, but they warmed up to each other.
Nakiah kept trying to kiss Bailey and Bailey even patted Nakiah on the butt/tail
After a very long day of dressing/undressing (Nakiah couldn't sit in her car seat with the tail so every time we got back in the car, the costume had to come off) poor girl was pretty much over Halloween and totally done with pictures
She just wanted to be left to her stash

Two things I learned this Halloween:

1. Costumes with tails, although very cute, are NOT practical for a toddler when you have several stops to make in a short amount of time.

2. When a child is not dressed as a fairy, cheerleader, flower or something pink, they are automatically classified as he/him/little guy. :)
