Real Quick

I know I'm really behind in posting...I'm working on that - In the mean time I just have two things to share: 1. Nakiah has officially gone 1 & 2 on the potty! We're very excited about the progress, especially considering we're still working on getting over the fear of the toilet. 2. I had to share the conversation that I just had with my daughter: Nakiah (as she reaches for my camera): "Nakiah picture, Nakiah picture, please" Me: "Do you want mommy to take your picture?" Nakiah: "No, Nakiah do it" Me: "No Nakiah not with mommy's camera" Nakiah: "Please" Me: "You can use your camera" Nakiah: "Oh yeah! Forgot!" When did she grow up so much?

And so it begins......

I'm sitting at work right now totally feeling guilty about being away from my baby, both of my babies. I had been debating for a while if I wanted to start back up so soon or not. Finally I decided that if I came back now, on a very part time basis, I could extend my leave and not be back full time until January and hopefully ease the transition back to working mom for both myself and the kids. So, here I am trying to catch up on some items when Corey calls. He says "Just wanted to update you on our son's progress." My first thought was that Kicen smiled at him or Nakiah or that he started cooing, or something similar that babies do. Oh no, my son, waiting of course for me to be at work, decides 4 weeks is a good time to start ROLLING OVER!!!! Corey said that Kicen was laying on his belly and after some time of pushing himself, rolled over his left side onto his back! WHAT?!! Oh, I just checked my phone and I have a text from Corey.... "He did it again" Just as I was getting off the phone with Corey. So now, adding insult to injury, I feel guilty for not being able to give Nakiah the attention she is used to getting, I feel guilty for not being able to give Kicen the attention that Nakiah received AND I now am feeling the guilt of missing these HUGE milestones in my baby's life! I think its time to seriously consider the Stay At Home Mom option!

23 Months & Almost 4 Weeks

My babies are growing up so fast!!!
Nakiah is 23 months old and will be celebrating her 2nd birthday in only 3 short weeks! Its unbelievable how much she has changed in the last few months, and in the last few weeks especially! She is talking up a storm and repeating everything she hears. She can say pretty much anything you ask her to say, which can be a problem when Boog is around. She catches onto everything extremely quick and remembers EVERYTHING! She is still so independent and strong willed, she definitely has a mind of her own and hasn't really learned the concept of compromise yet. She is very loving and affectionate and tells us every day "aw wud yoooo". She loves for me to snuggle her at night time, or as she says it "mommy, nunnle". While she can be quite shy at times, especially around strangers, she totally loves to show off. She laughs at herself and always wants you to participate in whatever is entertaining her at the moment. She never sits still and has an energy supply to be envious of! She loves to read her books, to color, do puzzles, sing songs and dance. She LOVES to be outside running around, especially at Auda & Auma's house. Her biggest thing right now is to ask a question and reply herself with "think, think, think" something she picked up from one of her favorite shows "Wow, Wow Wubzy". She loves to rough house with her Auda and Boog and always asks for more. Try as they might, they never wear her out! She loves animals but would prefer to look at them from a distance. There hasn't been a day since she entered our lives that she hasn't brought a smile to our faces! She is entertaining to no end and sometimes I think she knows it! She is truly a blessing and absolutely holds my heart! Kicen is quickly closing in on 4 weeks old and I can't believe how fast time has gone by. I feel like the last month is just a great big blur, but such a happy blur! Not that I am opposed to having more children by any means, but Kicen really does complete our family! He is such a great baby and a total joy. He is content and quiet, just taking things in most of the time. He likes to have a full belly and wants his diaper to be clean, but give him those two things and he's good to go. He prefers to be held, of course, but definitely needs his "alone" time to be stretched out and quiet. When he is awake he is constantly looking around absorbing everything he can. He seems to be a pretty serious baby so far and most of the time has a pretty serious, almost quizzical look on his face. I think he will be my thinker. He is very much a slow poke when it comes to eating, he likes to take his time. He usually falls fast asleep in the middle of a meal and will wake up about an hour after eating to eat again....which can make for some pretty long nights. I'm shocked at the amount of milk he consumes already. He is consistently taking 3-4 ounces every 2 hours, which seems like a ton to me. He likes to be wrapped pretty snug when he's sleeping but likes to stretch out when he's awake. He's a pretty "go with the flow" kind of baby, which is good considering his sister is a bit smothering at the moment. He'll probably be the little brother that ends up dressed in his sisters clothes and becomes the guinea pig when she starts experimenting with hair and make up. Kicen will lay in my arms and stare at me like I'm the only person in his world. He has had me wrapped around his finger from the very instant he came into this world. He is my little man and I couldn't be more in love! At Kicen's 3 day check up he weighed in at 7.4, down from his birth weight of 7.12. At his 2 week check up he was up to 8.6 and on Thursday of this week he weighed a whopping 9 pounds even. He is quickly growing out of his newborn clothes and diapers and shows no signs of slowing down. We'll be moving to the 0-3 months clothes in no time.
Nakiah has her 2 year check up coming up soon and while I am NOT excited about the shots, as I think this will be the worst visit yet, I am excited to see how her growth stacks up. She's always been in the 90-95th percentile for height and weight and is often mistaken for a 3 year old. I'm curious to see if those stats still hold true.
I am convinced that these two children are loved more than anyone in this world!! I know all you moms will disagree with me, and I'm glad! I think all children should be loved like that!
That being said - I truly do love my children more than any mother has ever loved a child!!! :-)
Give your baby a kiss and tell them nobody has ever been loved like they are!

Ballerina

Nakiah has recently become a fan of ballet. I'm not sure where she picked it up (unless she actually started paying attention to Angelina Ballerina) but she practices her dance routine almost daily.
She puts her hands in the air with her wrists bent, gents up on her toes and prances around saying "tip, tip, toe, ballerina"... ...oh, and then its "wor toorn"

They're just sooooo cute!

Hands On!

Every Mommy should have a Daddy who helps with the diaper changes!!!
Nothing is better than a Daddy who appreciates all the work a Mommy does and will help out where he can without complaining!

Fashionista

Nakiah has started trying to dress herself....but not with her clothes -
She likes to put our clothes on, which explains Daddy's t-shirt around her waist

Sweet Dreams

"Hold It"

Nakiah is such a great big sister! She always wants to be involved in whatever is going on with Kicen. She LOVES to hold him and always asks to "hold it". She loves to "pet it" or stroke his face, hair, hands, feet, etc and help with his feedings. She is very interested in everything he does and even gets upset when he cries. She has to watch almost every diaper change, even though it makes her gag (which by the way totally cracks me up!!!) and makes me blow on his bottom every time I take his diaper off. She just recently started getting interested in his face and I have to constantly remind her to keep her fingers out of his eyes and mouth. She thinks its funny when she kisses him and he "kisses her back", usually because he's hungry and he's rooting around....but to her its brother kissing her. We're currently trying to work on who is brother and who is sister. Right now they are both either sister or brother. She'll get in his face and say "hi sissy" when I try to explain to her that Kicen is brother, she'll point to him, say brother then point to herself and say brother. I'm confident she'll figure it out sooner or later. :)
Nakiah does have moments of frustration when all she wants is attention and she wants us to put "Kicen in bed". She gets a bit upset and will usually do something a bit naughty to get us to pay more attention to her. It breaks my heart to see her struggle with the adjustment and I wish that there were two of me. I just hope that as Kicen grows the two of them will grow closer and establish a bond that will last them a lifetime.
Have I mentioned how in love with my children I am!!!!

Like Father, Like Son

If Kicen is anything like his Daddy, these won't be the only napping together photos we get over the years!
I think Daddy makes a pretty great bed!

Show Off!

My daughter never shies away from showing off....
This particular moment, she thought wearing daddy's hat was hilarious! She even had to keep checking herself out in the mirror

Nanny Time

Nanny & Kicen
Nakiah, Mommy, Nanny & Kicen
Even with all the visits.....still not the favorite.
I'll have to get some pointers from Justin! :-)

He makes me smile!

I could stare at that face all day long!

Kisses, kisses and more kisses

Nakiah absolutely LOVES her little brother...
... and Kicen is really good about tolerating all the affection

Loves

Nakiah loves her daddy!
One day I hope to have pictures of me with my kids.......
HINT - HINT - HINT!

Nakiah-razzi

Auntie Fave and GG brought over some gifts for Kicen and Nakiah when we first got home from the hospital. Kicen got a ton of adorable clothes and some much needed, and appreciated, diapers. Nakiah got some very cute clothes and her new favorite toy - a camera, that actually takes pictures and records videos.
She loves her new "picture" She is as crazy as her mommy with a camera...the girl has been clicking away since the day she got her camera! Last night she was asking for it and couldn't find it in her room. When she asked daddy for help and they still couldn't find it, I thought it was going to be her biggest melt down to date. Lucky for us we found the camera and the evening was saved! :-)

Mommy's Pride and Joy!!!

Life doesn't get any better than this!

Out Like A Light

The day of Children's Art Festival, Nakiah spent the entire day with Auma, while I worked all day (and then ended up having irregular contractions all night long). She was too busy all day long to even think about taking a nap. My mom was sitting with Nakiah on the couch, walking into the other room to grab something and came back to Nakiah crashed on the couch....
It was a long day for my baby girl, but she had soooo much fun!!

Green Rubber Boots....again!

I'm telling you, these boots just keep popping up all the time!

Any time I ask Nakiah to get me her shoes, she brings me her green rubber boots. Whenever I ask her what shoes she wants to wear, she tells me "boots" or will point to her green rubber boots. When she asks to go outside and I tell her she needs shoes on, she runs to her room to get her green rubber boots. I'm not sure what I'm going to do when she grows out of her green rubber boots...

Sleepy Head

Nothing is sweeter than your baby all snuggled up, asleep

Playdough...I don't think so

A week or so before Kicen was born, Nakiah and I picked up some playdough for her to play with. She's been on this "all dirty" kick and doesn't like to touch anything that feels weird, so I wasn't sure how she would feel about playdough.
She was a bit fascinated at first....
But then decided it was best if mommy played with it while she watched.
Since then, she was put her "all dirty" obsession aside and found it in her heart to appreciate the playdough.

"Wimming"

I bought Nakiah some floating devices for 4th of July when we went to Danielle's on Big Lake. Nakiah LOVES them! She pulls them out every other day or so and tells me "wimming". She likes to put the ring around her belly and lay on the ....other thing (??). She has also decided that since these objects are obviously meant for water, they must make bath time more exciting.
She tells me "watch mommy, wimming"
