Little Devil

Hopefully this is just a faze

Washing Rocks??

Auma says they were "washing rocks"
I think they were playing with the soap!

Family? Food?

Its no secret Corey isn't a fan of taking pictures. If you've noticed at all on this blog there aren't a lot of pictures of Nakiah and me together. The ones I do have were most likely taken by my mom. Corey tries to say that he takes pictures of us, but I now have proof what he really does with the camera! Below are the 3 most recent pictures Corey has taken.
Don't get me wrong, the dinner was great! I'm always very pleased when Corey decides to Chef it up at home, he's a great cook.....just not the best photographer.

Little Miss Sunshine

Nakiah's favorite color to say is blue. When she doesn't want to play the "what color is this" game, everything is blue. When she doesn't know what color something is, she says "blue". But when it comes to picking out shoes, clothing and even sunglasses, it seems yellow is her color.
Before Easter, we were at the store and found some kid size crocks. I hate crocks, but thought they might be nice for Nakiah to wear for summer. I tried to talk her into wearing the purple ones, the pink and purple ones, some blue ones, even some hot pink ones. She kept telling me "ott" (aka "off") every time I put a pair on her feet....until we got to the yellow ones. She wouldn't let those shoes off of her feet the rest of the day.
While we were at the store we also found some kid size sunglasses. I tried to talk Nakiah into wearing the blue ones, the purple ones, the zebra striped ones and even some pink ones. The only ones she wanted on her head were the yellow ones. The shoes and the glasses were in completely different ends of the store, but apparently yellow was on her mind that day.
She's my little sunshine

Taking After Daddy.....Already!

I'm sure there will come a day when I have to explain to Nakiah why, at the ripe old age of 13, she can't get a tattoo when her daddy is covered in them!
For now, I'm grateful for her fascination with stickers, band aides and lick on tats!

The Great Outdoors

Okay mom, its bubble time!
There is always time to stop and smell, or poke at, the flowers

Go, go, go....

If I could bottle my child's energy, I would never have to work again!
I thought she had a lot of energy at home, but something kicks in to high gear when she is with her grandma and grandpa. This kid never stops. You have to force her to eat, drink and sleep and its a fight with all of it! But oh boy does she have fun!
She's doing somersaults now!! The day after this picture, Corey and I were playing on our bed with her and she did a real somersault all by herself. I swear if she isn't an Olympic sprinter, she'll probably be an Olympic gymnast. :-)
Even when she's all worn out, there's no stopping her.

I was exhausted just watching her!

Buddies!

Buddies!
Nakiah is Auda's little shadow! When he's not around, she is constantly asking for him....to the point that Auma and Nakiah have to call him pretty much daily. When he is around, Nakiah has to make sure he is always in her sight and always paying attention to her. If, even for a second, she thinks his attention has drifted elsewhere you are sure to hear "Auda, Auda, Auda, Auda, Auda, Auda".
When Nakiah is at Auma and Auda's house, its play time ALL NIGHT LONG! They rough house, have pillow fights, run around the house and, oh yeah, jump on the bed! Nakiah will make Auda stand on the chest at the foot of the bed and jump onto the bed with her. First she jumps...... Then Auda jumps!
Nakiah thinks its so funny and continuously asks for more!
It can be 10pm and Nakiah can be wiped out and still, play time rolls on!
Oh yeah, she will put herself between the chest and the bed, say "stuck" and wait for Auda to rescue her. Once is not enough for this game either.
And my mom wonders why Nakiah doesn't go to bed so good at her house????

28 Weeks Down....Hopefully no more than 12 to go!

Top picture is 1st pregnancy a couple of weeks farther along than the current bottom picture
Nakiah sat right up in my ribs most of the time while this baby jumps all over my bladder!
Top picture was a girl....what does the bottom picture look like? So baby is growing right along and moving all the time! We're finally into the 3rd trimester and still no baby furniture and no boy name. I'm pretty convinced this baby is a girl and Corey is certain its a boy. Or maybe I'm just talking myself into believing its a girl so I don't freak out about not having a boys name picked out yet. This is baby #2 you would think that we could agree on just one name!!! Everything has been pretty smooth and uneventful. I did have to take a 3 hour glucose test after my 1 hour came back questionable. I really don't mind the drink and having 3 hours all to myself was pleasant. Having a needle stabbed inside me 4 times, however, was indescribable and basically as close as one can get to legal torture!!! I have a hard time just typing about it! Lucky for me, everything came back great. At my last dr. apt. I was lucky enough to be a guinea pig for the office. They are looking into purchasing new ultrasound equipment and were trying one of their options out on some of their patients for the day so I got to watch our beautiful baby jumping around for quite some time. They measured the baby's head and rate at which fluid is pumping through the umbilical cord and said everything looks perfect. Doc says baby is pretty active, which is EXACTLY what I want to hear! (there is sarcasm in those words!) Doc told me Nakiah was pretty active too and she hasn't stopped since! I'm not so sure its humanly possible to keep up with two "pretty active" children! Sorry Auma! We are extremely excited about adding to our family and are getting very anxious for the next couple of months. If we could just agree on a name and figure out what to do with Nakiah when the baby is being born, we'll be set!

Innocent?

Think so? See below!

Sugar & Spice, but not Always Nice!

Nakiah is, for the most part, a very happy little girl! She's not exactly what I would call mellow, but she's usually pretty easy to please. Now there are exceptions to most rules, especially when it comes to toddlers and I'm pretty certain that the mood swings of toddlers are comparable to those of teenage girls!
On this particular occasion, Auma had just hung up the phone and during the devastating realization that Auma was no longer on the line, mommy took the phone out of Nakiah's mouth and away from her reach. Not exactly the combination Nakiah was in the mood for! I'm pretty sure this was the point at which Nakiah realized she could actually crack glass with her screams if she filled her lungs with chest bursting amounts of air.
Oh, and lets not forget the part where she growled at me for taking her picture during this unbecoming moment. Not that I would have wanted my picture taken either, but I do need something to put in her senior year book....or wedding slide show!
I love you princess!

The "Mean Look"

Papa taught Nakiah how to do a "mean look"
She can usually only hold it for a few seconds before she starts laughing at herself Daddy calls it her game face, mommy calls it practice for all the times she'll be glaring at us behind our backs....or to our faces.

Strawberry Smiles!
